It is not the finest way to the new Koenigsegg Agera know, but the views of the test driver is at least an effective icebreaker. The V-8 just exploded on the line is the acceleration as an uppercut from Mike Tyson. Then I have to change the right paddle and the engine is to be taken into meltdown, which on full afterburner exhaust. The sound is really amazing, somewhere between a Gumpert Apollo and a Pagani Zonda. As for the acceleration … Well, it just does not stop.
We get 155 and I want the brakes Landon Donovan, a penalty kick punch. I can imagine dropping an F/A-18 Hornet from the USS Enterprise-hooks feels as follows: The belts crush my collarbone and my eyeballs to make a thorough attempt to escape their greenhouses. AP Racing with 15.7-in. Ceramic discs in front and well-calibrated ABS, the Koenigsegg simply stops. Dead. My passenger was laugh. “How it works, it’s pretty good, right?” Welcome to Planet Koenigsegg.
We are in Sweden, two hours by car from the Netherlands, the bridge connecting Copenhagen and Malmö. It is here that only Swedish supercar manufacturer has set the store at the end of an anonymous industrial estate.
It is a family affair. Mrs. Koenigsegg himself greets us at the reception with a graceful smile. “We are on a former military airport,” she says by way of introduction. “It is very convenient for our customers. You can land just outside of our workshops. It saves them time.” Well, that sets the scene afterwards.
There is nothing good, nothing too expensive. To confirm this, you need only keep the clinical cleanliness of the workshop and in particular on the retail market at the end of product life cycle.
“Each car is unique to our eyes,” says founder Christian von Koenigsegg, with whom you feel a highly developed sense of perfectionism. He takes an indented section very similar to an aluminum piece of Lego Technic. “This is the door opener. Look is on target. We really have to journey into the unknown, to go to get this right, although there are hidden at the door.”
Koenigsegg cars are not only beautiful finish. They are amazingly fast.
“We have miles in 240 hours Nardo hit in 2005, CCX, Koenigsegg said. “We are going back soon determined to get over 250 miles an hour.” It is tempting to believe that he is a little dreamer, even a bit of a megalomaniac, but the more you talk, the more you’ll realize it really is very realistic and very convincing, and his feet very much on the ground. In a way, reminds you of Christian Koenigsegg Horacio Pagani: the same determination, the same passion.
The Pagani is parallel also relevant when it comes to Koenigsegg production rate of 12 to 15 cars per year. The eggs are round Koenigs built an ultra-light carbon frame (154 lbs.) Sits with the engine in a tubular holder on the back. This is then covered by an all-carbon body. The Agera is next to the CCX and CCX-R built. It was just born, and we are among the first to get behind the wheel.
The name, Agera, has two meanings: the “action” in Swedish, “timeless” in Greek, to emphasize his eternal character. While this prototype is the current supercharged engine, producing are equipped V-8 with two turbos and a new seven-speed sequential box. There are also a much stronger brakes, a revised aero package and a wider front axle for better traction has. And the best: 910 hp and 810 lb-ft. Torque in a package that weighs less than 3100 pounds. gassed and ready to go. This is a power to weight ratio, the better that the Bugatti Veyron.
