Hyundai unveiled its highly anticipated Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept The 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show. The concept car announced the introduction of an entirely new, planned to close rear-wheel drive 2 +2 sports coupe for the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009. Design Process
“The mission for Concept Genesis Coupe a pure performance car with a design that the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts would gather conquered,” said Joel Piaskowski, chief designer at the Hyundai Design Center in Irvine, Calif. “With its aggressive look from almost every corner, I think we were able to do that. ”
Designer uses Day Light Opening (DLO – a designer label for the side windows) of the Talus Concept Genesis Coupe Concept at HCD9.
The Sports Tourer concept is the sensual HCD8 influenced the overall design direction of Genesis Coupe Concept.
The powerful curves, surface detail and “Z” bodyside trim lines come right from the same underlying inspiration that guided two earlier, well-received concepts: the HCD9 HCD8 talus and the Sports Tourer. The undulating beltline borrowed from the Talus adds intrigue and better visibility for the driver and rear passengers. The Sports Tourer is HCD8 sensuous forms influenced the overall design theme while providing direction for the concept of assertive headlight and taillight designs.
The look of Concept Genesis Coupe was inspired in part by Leman racing cars, Jada Toys Dub City Drifters and die-cast vehicles. The front and rear stance of the Concept Genesis Coupe can be described as sinister.
“Beauty and danger co-exist in the design of the Concept Genesis Coupe,” said Eric Stoddard, senior creative designer. “When viewed from a distance, the car is beautiful to behold. But may seem very close to a less threatening and even a bit intimidating.”
The concept of the rocker panels are near the ground, so that the body side of extra thick and the daylight opening extremely thin drawn so that the wheels are up in the bulging fenders beaten. To complete the aggressive sports car look, the depth between the fenders and the greenhouse effect is maximized.
Three large heat extractors are molded into the cap designed to cool just about any powerful engine. If the concept becomes reality, three large openings in front for better engine breathing. The dual exhaust tips integrated into the rear bumper to repeat the design theme of the front cooling ducts and are surrounded by a large carbon fiber air diffuser.
An umbrella roof line tapering greenhouse highlight the outside and visible and highlight the broad shoulders and wide stance. Concept Genesis Coupe rides on 20-inch polished aluminum deep-dish wheels with 255/35 ZR20 Hankook 275/35 ZR20 front tires and rear tires.
