The celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the original Shelby Cobra GT500KR, Ford and Shelby to a new “King of the Road Mustang” 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR to participate. Ford Shelby GT500KR features an estimated 540-hp 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack, 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, short-throw shifter and unique suspension tuning. Exterior design inspired by the classic Shelby KR Mustangs and features unique carbon fiber hood, wheels and special 40th Anniversary badging and unique striping.Crowning of the new “King of the Road”
Gary Davis, vice president of production and product development for Shelby Automobiles, played a key role in determining the look of carbon fiber hood for the GT500KR custom designed. His knowledge of the original GT500KR helped sculpt a modern interpretation of the curvature of the original hood, a visual indication of the extra horsepower packed beneath it. The hood is secured by a pair of stainless steel, twist-down hood pins. The composite valance houses a pair of chrome-trimmed functional brake ducts to cool the large 14-inch ventilated Brembo brakes.
Stripes are true to the original KR right up to the font for the ‘GT500KR’ letters used during the classical style LeMans striping that races in the middle of the car between the front edge of the hood and is disposed of lamps in front in the hood, the emphasis of balls and giving the KR its distinctive face. “That was Shelby’s idea,” said Gaffka. “It is a special note that some down-the-road differentiation added. There is no doubt that a “King of the Road Mustang” is to fill in your rear-view mirrors are. ”
The show offers exclusive cars, Shelby developed forged 20-inch, polished aluminum wheels with special custom center caps, mounted on Pirelli rubber. Production will come with a 18-inch version
