Some of the new turbo engines will be added to the range of the recently introduced BMW X3. These include a basic four-cylinder gasoline engine and a six-cylinder diesel flagship.

The new entry-level version of the X3 is the xDrive20i powered by a 2.0-liter aluminum four-cylinder gasoline engine with twin-scroll turbocharger, direct gasoline injection, double-VANOS variable camshaft control and Valvetronic driven variable valve timing. It delivers at 4,800 rpm and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque from 1250 rpm already 184HP.

The X3 xDrive20i is either with a manual 6-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission that both (the “x” designation indicates), the power directly to all four wheels. Be offered

The second new engine is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine with twin-turbo-stage and the latest generation of the BMW common rail direct injection with up to 1,800 bar of pressure. It will force the X3 xDrive35d with 313HP and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) torque from 1,500 rpm to 2,500, is the most powerful version yet of the list.

At low speeds, only the small turbo to the air pressure builds due to the larger work. So, when maximum power is demanded, an electronic control unit switches the larger turbocharger promising “spontaneous reaction”. The xDrive35d is standard with all-wheel drive, an 8-speed automatic transmission and an automatic start-stop system.

Both the xDrive20i and xDrive35d will go on sale this fall.
