BMW Confirms 3 Series and 5 Series Hybrids front side view
MUNICH – BMW plans a production version of the 5 Series Active Hybrid “as early as next year,” which follow from a 3-series hybrid, “said BMW chief Norbert Reithofer shareholders this week at the annual meeting of the Company.
“If early next year, the new 5 Series is also available as a full hybrid,” said Group Chief Reithofer. “We expect the intersection of the other models, such as the 3-Series.”

The increased hybridization of production vehicles is just one element of future BMW vision of sustainable mobility, which is an extension of the electric vehicles as part of the Mini and the BMW brand and the launch of the 2013 sub-branded Mega City Vehicle.
Reithofer said BMW will roll out its fleet of electric vehicles, mini D in China and France, and is a European fleet of BMW to test electric cars by next year.
The CEO told shareholders: “We are reinventing mobility, step by step …. Sustainable mobility is at least as exciting as conventional mobility.”
