The new Mazda BT-50 ute still offered as a diesel-only model, as it is called in Australia at the end of this year to life.

The two diesel engines with the BT-50 is the sister car, the all-new Ford Ranger will be shared, although the 2.5-liter Duratec four-cylinder gasoline, will not have to Ford under the hood of the Mazda.

The data on the performance of both cars will be the same. The MZ-CD 3.2 (as Mazda calls it) is a 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine with 147 kW and a torque of 470nm. As the ranger towing capacity is 3350kg.

The current 3.0-liter diesel in the outgoing BT-50 produces 115kW and 380 Nm of torque – 32kW less than 90nm and the new model. The towing capacity is 350kg less than the next model.

The engine is optional with manual says and six-speed automatic transmission and Mazda, that both the promise of significant improvements in NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) level.

The second engine is the MZ-CD 2.2 – a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, 110 kW of power and 375nm torque (up to 5 kW and 45 nm more than the previous 2.5-liter diesel) produces. Towing capacity is up to 250 kg to 2500.

Fuel consumption and emissions data has yet to be released, although Mazda says that both engines offer higher efficiency. Currently, the 2.5-liter engine uses 8.5 l/100km on the combined cycle while the 3.0-liter diesel on average 9.5 litres/100 km.

Competition in the light commercial segment has never been so intense. The brand-new Volkswagen Amarok the revision of the market in February began, the Ford Ranger through is early in the second half of this year, the BT-50, the local showrooms before the end of the year hit, and the all new Holden Colorado on the sale spring in 2012.
