According to build new reports, Jaguar plans a new plant in the UK, to produce a new engine. Sources say the new engine is a new 6-cylinder engine that can be offered in the United States in the XF and XJ sedan.
Currently all sold Jaguar are in the United States with a 5.0L V8. The atmospheric version of the V8 produces 385 hp, while the other versions are 475-hp or 510 hp supercharged engine.
Speculation is that the new 6-cylinder engine produced just over 300 hp to compete with the likes of similar engines offered by BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. The engine will probably be linked to an 8-speed transmission.
Expect to see the new 6-cylinder engine in the U.S. sometime in 2013 or 2014 model year Jags.
