For as old as this thing is still a nice car. It is as structurally sound as I can remember every drive convertible. It is also fast, comfortable and beautiful – the car a real presence and is still has the look.
The ride / handling is probably the most impressive thing about. There is little body roll and more potholes and the like are treated without jerking the steering wheel or through the cockpit. The ride is not soft, and it is not difficult. It is so close to the $ 114,000 you get a perfect.
There are many here in power. I can remember riding in a SL with the twin-turbo V12 in the SL600 and it’s a scream. But really, that’s enough power here.
It rained during my ride, and traction control blue-light shone the whole time. Too bad the weather was not better, so that I could benefit from a number of top-down motoring.

Motorsport MAC Morrison EDITOR: I do not agree with the good guy here Raynal. The SL is a mighty fine all-round luxury two-seater, because the basic version in 2002 launched. Mercedes has since been revised but eight years later, I’m pretty much over. There are many seductive, fresh opportunities in today this price range. In no way can anyone speak to me in that car instead of, say, a Porsche 911S Cabriolet, with a name. Although the Porsche is probably no fresher than this one of her Mercedes appearance (and some would say that was the case for more than 30 years), but the car definitely delivers on the driver’s side.
The ride / handling balance Raynal here is generally leaves me cold. Make no mistake, this is a great car for the spring or summer stations, especially the top-down. The styling is classic, elegant Mercedes, and there are times that the SL is just what you melt away the stress of a long work week, or even just a long day of need. But there are also many other times it makes me a better sound, better treatment and want a better answer.
The SL’s limits are high, but I personally do not suffer from them fun to explore. The car is big and heavy, and in contrast to even the Aston Martin Rapide, which I drove recently, and it feels like. Although Mercedes a variable steering ratio, called direct steering, a few years old, yet I believe that I have to convince them to do the car, what I want. Or perhaps because the totality of the tactile feedback, it just does not quite convince myself that doing the deed.
I did not know how the brake reaction / feeling. I do not know whether the result of the electronic brake dosage, but the brake pedal is sometimes sensitive and feel with their non-linear response. This is one of my favorite features on at least one car at any price.
