Compared with the LR3 LR4 has a new exterior, a powerful direct-injection V8 engine and a luxurious cabin. The new 4.4-liter V8-LR-S engine delivers 25 percent more output and 19 percent more torque – 375 horsepower and 375 pound-feet.
Land Rover engineers have also tried the LR4′s on-road ride and handling improved, in addition to the known all-terrain capabilities of its predecessor. The changes include new suspension components, steering revised, larger brakes, a traction control, and improvements to the Terrain Response system, which helps the vehicle is ideal for a variety of driving conditions.
The engine is optimized for low-end torque, making it possible to lock-up clutch of the six-speed automatic transmission with a lower speed to go. This reduces the “slip” in the hydraulic torque converter for fuel economy and CO2 emissions. The higher torque at low speeds also allows longer gearing for efficient sailing.
A powerful braking system with four-piston calipers and 14.2-inch discs in front, equipped with twin-piston calipers and 13.8-inch discs at the rear.
Four-corner independent height-adjustable air suspension and Land Rover Terrain Response system exclusive are both standard in the series. Terrain Response is an adjustable suspension with five settings: general, creeping grass / gravel / snow, mud / track, sand and rocks.
The fresh exterior design for 2010 also includes new front-end and smooth revised lighting, including LEDs. The all-new interior features a premium and functional optional five and seven seats. Other new features are available surround camera system, Gradient Release Control, Coupling Assist, High Beam Assist available automatic transmission, keyless entry and start.
Aerodynamic changes to the front, front chin spoiler and revised with new front spoiler, help to reduce the resistance. 19-inch wheels and tires for improved rolling resistance and tire wear optimized to increase the efficiency. The interior is completely redesigned, with a new dashboard and center console, new seats and better controls.
A six-speed ZF automatic transmission offers a wide ratio spread is controlled electronically. Three-layer modes are available. In automatic mode, up-and down-shifting electronically controlled for smooth shifting. In Sport mode, shifts the maximum acceleration instructions. In the Command Shift mode, the driver controls the gears manually.
Other features include DVD-based navigation system, a 240-watt or 550 watt sound system, third seat, Bi-Xenon headlights, programmable key fob and Sirius Satellite Radio.
