2011 Honda Accord Coupe Sedan and receive important updates, including improved fuel economy, improved exterior and interior styling and the addition of a new leather-equipped Special Edition (SE) trim level. Available as a sedan and a coupe in the 4-cylinder and V6 versions of the Accord offers a unique balance of style, performance, efficiency and value of the respective model.
“For 2011, the Accord is to cut back further styling inside and out, fuel economy gains and a broader application of the most popular features,” said Erik Berkman, vice president of corporate planning and logistics for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “The Accord is designed at a constantly rewarding ownership experience in the areas most to deliver in sedan and coupe drivers.”
Improvements in vehicle aerodynamics, friction, and gear ratios all contribute to improving fuel economy. EPA fuel economy for the Accord sedan ratings1 four-cylinder models equipped with automatic transmission, mpg by 2 miles per gallon (mpg) in city and 3 mpg on the highway to improve, for a city / highway rating of 23/34.
Accord Sedan 2011 outside a luxurious and expresses powerful presence with a new style for the grille, bumper and rear trunk lid, along with a new wheel design.
Based on the character design of the sedan, is the Accord Coupe unique muscular stance enhanced by a bold radiator grille, new bumper shape and improved brake light look and a new wheel design for the V6 models.
A balance between value and luxury, the Accord Sedan SE offers the additional features of the popular Accord LX-P trim with the added luxury of leather seats, heated seats, power lumbar driver and a trimmed leather steering wheel.
New features on some models are equipped with steering wheel, shift paddles mounted on the Accord EX-L V6 equipped coupe, a USB audio interface for all models and Accord Coupe EX and EX-L sedans and a reversing camera to sedans with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation2 system. In addition Accord EX-L V6 models get a two-position memory driver’s seat. Additional interior updates on new upholstery on all models include models with cloth seats, instrument panel of an updated design and sophisticated accents in the interior.
Interior Design for all models offers accessible luxury with generous standard equipment, world-class ergonomics and intuitive operation of the vehicle. The front seats are designed so generous lateral support and athletic side to fill the Accord. The fold-down, rear seat offers the versatility and cargo storage, a lockable pass-through for long items like skis includes snow.
New for 2011 are the most common climate-control buttons are positioned on the left side of the control, use closer to the driver for ease-of-stack, and less frequently used keys located on the right. Vehicle clock setting is also easier to control more prominent signage.
A 190-hp, 2.4-liter 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine is standard on the Accord EX and EX-L Accord Sedan and LX-S, EX and EX-L coupe. The 2.4-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine in the Accord LX, LX-P produced SE sedans and 177 hp.
The available 3.5-liter 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC V6 engine produces 271 hp and a variable control of the cylinders (VCM) technology that can turn off half the cylinders while driving to reduce fuel consumption . Preliminary EPA fuel economy is ratings3 Accord V6 sedan 19 mpg city/30 highway for 2011, an improvement of 1 mpg in the highway. The performance-oriented Accord EX-L V6 coupe has six-speed transmission with a unique 3.5-liter V6 VTEC engine (no VCM tuned), a performance valve train provides the intake and exhaust system for the torque curve broadening of the low – to mid-speed range for the enthusiast-level performance. A five-speed transmission based on the four-cylinder models and a standard 5-speed automatic transmission is available. A 5-speed automatic transmission is powered on V6 models, standard. There is no 6-speed manual transmission is exclusively available on the Accord EX-L V6 Coupe.
For safety reasons, the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) is an exclusive design that improves the body and the protection of occupants in frontal crashes crash compatibility. The ACE design uses a network of interconnected structural elements to distribute crash energy evenly across the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transmitted to the passenger compartment.
The double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension inspire confidence handling and ride comfort. Accord Sedan comes in 2011 with 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, or 16 – or 17-inch alloy wheels, depending on the model standard.
Three audio systems are available – all with MP3/Windows Media Audio (WMA) playback and auxiliary input. The standard system is a single-disc CD player, six speakers and 160 watts of power. Radio Data System (RDS) displays information broadcast by the participating FM station, which often call letters, station type (searchable by genre) and programming information. Steering wheel mounted audio system are standard on every Accord. Accord Sedan EX and Coupe LX-S add a 6-disc in-dash changer.
A 270-watt premium audio system is standard on Accord EX Coupe and Sedan Accord EX-L models, and includes a six-CD changer and seven speakers including an 8-inch subwoofer. XM Radio is standard on all Accord EX-L models.
The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System (available on the Accord EX-L) uses an 8-inch screen and an interface for user input to choose. Features include the Zagat Survey guide for restaurants, entertainment venues, hotels and attractions. Accord EX and EX-L Accord Coupe and Sedan EX-L models are equipped with standard Bluetooth hands-free link equipped wireless devices to connect to compatible mobile phones. Accord Coupe (4-cylinder) with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels standard on the Accord Coupe V6. All Accords have four wheel brakes.
Currently more than 95 percent of the contracts in the United States with Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. sold produced4’s car plant in Marysville Marysville, Ohio, and production at Honda of Alabama, LLC in Lincoln, Alabama. The Marysville plant is the world’s only source of the Accord Coupe.
