2011 Chevrolet Volt is a 16-kWh, “T”-shaped lithium-ion battery that powers the electric drive to provide power up to 40 miles driven on battery alone. According to provisional data from GM, the system provides 150 hp and a maximum torque of 273 lb-ft, so the Volt in order from 0-60 km/h in about 9 seconds and a top speed of 100 miles per hour. The battery can be recharged by plugging into an outlet and takes less than 3 hours up to 240 volt charge, and about eight hours on a standard 120-volt outlet. The Chevrolet Volt leads a four-engine 1.4 cylinder the five-door, FWD sedan to travel extra miles, while an average fuel economy of 50 MPG. A fully charged battery and a full tank will travel to 300 volts miles.
