Riding in a hip, stylish car, without a 20 pound cannon on the piggy bank is looking for something that most car buyers. Unfortunately, there are few vehicles on the market today that you do not laugh when the valet line at your club, while still have enough money to have the operation tip attendants. The 2010 Volkswagen CC Sport is one of these vehicles.
We are all familiar with the interior light, the CC’s swoopy lines and stylized. When it came to market in late 2008, it was clear from the Mercedes-Benz CLS “four-door coupe” styling trends, trade, and a little inspired by usability – usually in the main room in the back – in the interest of good search . Most buyers are not interested. What they worry about the driving experience. Two engines are available in the intensive care: a muscular 3.6-liter V-6 and the familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct injection I-4. The last, good for 200 hp and 207 pound-feet of torque, the unit found in our test car, a model CC Sport.
Set to the lowest rung of the hierarchy is the sport of entry-level CC, an additional benefit by maximizing the reduction in consumption and the functions of the smaller of the two engines. As the name suggests, the sport’s most engaging for the CC fans to drive. This is because the only trim level CC with three pedals and a six-speed manual transmission offered. Our testers Candy White won her enthusiastic nature with a few high-dollar options that are bad for the wallet but good for the eyes: A group of 19-inch alloy wheels Sagitta ($ 2,499 disappointing and equipped with all-season tires) and fundamental Effects Kit ($ 1.999), consisting of a new front valence, side skirts, a spoiler, chrome exhaust and tips.
The add-on body kit is easy to turn elegant appearance of the CC’s move to aggressively, and the combination of the side skirts and 19-inch wheels visually lowers the car, looked drawn to the ground. The rear spoiler reminiscent of certain AMG Mercedes models. It is a compelling package, but it has to the street?
Around the city, the CC itself perfectly acquitted. The ride is comfortable, but controlled, feels, in typical Volkswagen fashion, and the car was not quite nimble, act as tinny. We would probably have some smaller wheels and 19s stick just a hint of harshness and road noise to give increased compared to the standard 17-inch model. The 2.0-liter turbo is hard, also supported in this 3200-pound application – a feeling of a 0-to-60 km / h in 6.8 seconds in our instrumented tests. Put the hammer down away from a stoplight, and the CC showed little Torque Steer, suppressed a concern that in a variety of high-output, front-wheel-drive cars.
But what about transmission? Buyer will be rewarded with disabled as take-up and for the precise operation of the manual clutch lever, even though the clutch pedal and shift lever just a bit too bright for our taste, loss of a small positive feeling in the process. Give us a bit more weight on the control and we will be happy, even though not daily rush hour commuters can agree. Nitpicking aside, there is no escape, that the old stick and pedal combination that makes driving more attractive than the fancy CC DSG version.
Of all the CC-models, we suspect that the Sport version with larger tires squeal action than his brothers. With that in mind, we turned our Goodyear Eagle GT in the mountains to see what’s what in the handling department. Predictably, under the CC-controlled light, but when pushed hard with a lot of body roll the Twisties. Still not enough to make the uncomfortable journey, pass on the chassis feel, more than the task at hand. CC The front seats are also up to the task, with a decent development during normal driving and a good amount of grip when it comes to the crunch curvy. On the skid pad, was our CC Sport found similar numbers in Suzuki Kizashi GTS is a car which we praised for its dynamic state. Nevertheless, as a serious sports sedan is what you are looking for the Subaru WRX, the CC clobber each time in about the same price.
