If you wonder whether the world a four-door Aston Martin Rapide in 2011, the answer to a question nobody asked. But if you ask whether people want, perhaps a four-door Aston, that is another question entirely. You see, the Rapide is not only the cash-401K, Rob-a-bank, nice sell-a-kidney. It is the ultimate car guy answer to all the little nagging voice in your head, it’s time that you suggest and got rid of the grown up sports car. What it is not, however, is a good limousine.
Ulrich Bez Aston Martin chief Livewire happy to say that the Rapide will perfect for the couple to their friends to the theater or a restaurant in style. The uncomfortable reality is that most are friends Rapide owners too old and too inflexible to be rotated to the back seat. The problem is not the leg or head room, both are close, but not impossible. The problem is the combination of high thresholds, a legacy of innovative aluminum space-frame design of the Rapide and deep foot space for rear passengers feet needed to slide under the front seats. You have to twist your ankle, while almost 90 degrees, and get to raise your knees toward your chest almost from the back seat of the Rapide. It is not easy, and it is not elegant – looking ladies in tight cocktail dresses.
So let’s not call the Aston Martin Rapide sedan. We call it a 2 +2 with four doors. And there is nothing wrong with that because of the Rapide is a very nice job it’s a sports car that can carry a few passengers in the rear.
Based on this long, low hood is a 470-hp version of the built in Germany, 6.0-liter V-12′s Aston. Like all V-12, this is an engine that loves to REV – the maximum torque of 443 lb.-ft. was not developed until 5000 rpm – the calibrated slow with a little six-speed automatic transmission with a huge gap between the second and third conditions conspires combined to a strange feeling lethargic around the town of Rapide, unless the sport mode or use the shift paddles. It’s just a feeling, though. Take care, and the Rapide will be taken by 60 km / h in 4.7 seconds, a sport., And cover the standing quarter mile in 13.2 seconds. 108.1 hours on miles. Stated top speed of 188 km per hour, the Rapide is certainly moving faster at the end of the four doors.
